Reach Volunteer Positions

(Each position has its own detailed description with more specific procedures, guidelines and policies that apply to that particular position. Through our volunteer application process, you will be matched with a position that fits your skills and schedule.)
                                  
PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS:

SCHOOL YEAR (OCT – MAY) POSITIONS:

Creative Connections Artist Facilitator (CCF):
(this position may be considered for an “internship” in the future)
This volunteer will help develop art activities that he/she will teach to the after-school Creative Connections kids once a week.  The CCF will work with other volunteer mentors to guide the children as they do the planned activities. CCFs will attend additional trainings to go over ideas for different art projects and supply possibilities.  The CCFs provide oversight to the activity and are responsible for making sure set up and clean up are taken care of. Creative Connections meets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4:00 – 6:00.

Creative Connections Mentor (CCM):
The Creative Connections mentor will assist the Facilitator by guiding the participants in the planned art activity.  The CCM will help engage children/participants in the activity by working one on one where needed and encouraging children to do their own projects.  The CCM will assist with preparation and help participants clean up (put away supplies, wash tools, etc.)

Teen Open Studio Mentor (TOSM):
TOS volunteers will mentor teenage participants in visual art activities once a week, after-school.  These volunteers will encourage the teens to try different art media available at Reach.  The mentor will work with individuals or a small group of teens on a particular art media, encouraging the teens to set and work toward goals in building art making skills.  Teen Studio takes place after-school on Thursday afternoons from 3:00 – 6:00.

Art Class Assistant (ACA):
(For Creative Tots, Artsmart, Kids Clay, Summer Camps and Workshops, other) The Art Class Assistant will assist the art teacher by helping with preparation of materials and clean up (put away supplies, wash tools, etc.) as well as helping children stay focused on the activity. This will be done by working one on one where needed and encouraging children to do their own projects.  

SUMMER (JUNE - AUGUST) POSITIONS:

Summer Camp Intern:
Summer camp interns will work with the teacher during the summer camp sessions assisting with greeting and signing children in, snack time, materials preparation and cleanup, and helping children stay focused on their art work.

Summer Teen Studio Intern(s):
TOS Interns will work with other volunteers to mentor teenage participants in different art media of the participant’s choice. (This might include ceramics, printmaking, fiber arts, painting, drawing, jewelry, etc.) Summer Teen Studio takes place weekly on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays.  The intern will work with individuals or a small group of teens on a particular art media, encouraging the teens to set and work toward goals in building art making skills. 

OTHER VOLUNTEER POSITIONS (scheduled year-around)

Maintenance and Cleaning Volunteer (MCV): 
The Maintenance volunteer(s) will be scheduled to do regular cleaning of the facility which includes the main classroom, supply and wheel room, bathroom, hallway, and utility area. Several volunteers for this job could be on a rotation schedule.

Office Assistant:      
The Office assistant will help in the office with such things as answering the phone, mailing preparation, printing and copying, and data entry. They may also help with phone calling and flyer distribution.  Volunteers with particular skills in IT may be called upon to assist with computer, software application, and website tasks.

Event Volunteers:
Event Volunteers will act as “ambassadors” for Reach, helping to promote Reach programs at annual fairs and festivals.  These volunteers will set up and/or take down Reach’s table/booth as well as assist with activities being offered to the public.  Activities may include helping passers-by do a small take home art activity, face painting, or art demonstrations, etc.
 
Community Service Volunteer (CSV):
A community service volunteer will assist in a variety of tasks including light maintenance and cleaning. The CSV may also assist in “work day” tasks that may include supply organization, class preparation, office assistance and “spring cleaning” type activities. We can also accommodate small groups of volunteers (3 – 8) who want to do a “Work Day” at Reach.
