Programs at Reach Studio

for youth:

CREATIVE CONNECTIONS (CC) – FREE, All ages.
Tuesdays and Wednesdays 4:00 – 6:00 from October through May. Activities are scheduled to give participants experiences in using skills and imagination with painting, sculpture, drawing, collage, printmaking, and fine crafts. Local artists and volunteers facilitate the activities.

OPEN CLAY STUDIO (OCS) - all ages
Mondays and Wednesdays 7:00-9:00 p.m., Saturdays 10:00-12:00
Special rates for families and ‘Big Brother/Sister” matches.
A clay instructor facilitates the sessions and provides individualized instruction, suggestions and encouragement for projects of your choice. 2 lbs of clay is included with the studio fee. Additional clay can be purchased. We welcome beginners to advanced clay artists of all ages!

TEEN OPEN STUDIO (TOS) – FREE - ages 13 - 18
Thursdays 3:00 – 6:00 from October through May. TOS runs during the summer, but has a different schedule. Teens choose a media to work on (ceramics, sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, jewelry, mosaics, fiber arts, etc.). Volunteer artist mentors facilitate the sessions. Priority is given to teens from surrounding neighborhoods or with referrals from a teacher, counselor or case worker. Registration is required.

CREATIVE TOTS (CT): ages 2 - 5
Two or more different 45 minute class sessions a week through the school year (October through May). Children explore use of different art media: painting, pasting, sculpting, collage - with their parent or care giver. Art teacher leads activities. Preschool (age 2-5 yr olds with a parent or caregiver)

KIDS CLAY & ARTSMART: ages 6 - 12
Mondays after school (October through May).
Kids Clay: participants work on hand building techniques with ceramic clay. Wheel throwing will be introduced to students as experience warrants.
Art Smart: fun projects using a variety of art media including painting, sculpting, collaging and drawing. Kids Clay and Artsmart classes for ages 6 – 12.

SUMMER ART DAY CAMPS and FRI-D-ART WORKSHOPS
Day camps and Friday, 3 hour workshops are held during the summer months for different age groups of youth from age 4 to 16

BIRTHDAY PARTIES, CUSTOMIZED GROUP CLASSES, AND PRIVATE TUTORING
Yes, we do birthday parties and put together class sessions for interested groups for a reasonable price!

JUNIOR BOARD: ages 11 - 16
This program is being developed, but will most likely involve invited 11 to16 year olds in planning and doing creative fundraising projects for Reach. Junior Board will meet 2 or 3 times a month, probably on Friday after school. E-mail us if you are interested.

DAYS TO DYE FOR (DD) - ages 14 - adult
Saturday afternoons about once a month (September through May). Participants have fun painting & dyeing “arty” cloth and experimenting with other fiber art techniques in the charming textile art studio of Alice Brinkman above Reach.

2D STUDIO: DRAW AND PAINT - for adults and mature, interested high schoolers
Thursdays, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., starting March 13, 2008. Local Artists: Anthony Vasquez will be facilitating this new program available for adults at Reach Studio!!!:
2D Studio: Drawing and Painting Open Studio. Participants will pay $5 at each 2 hour session, and provide their own supplies. (An additional $3 - $5 can be paid for use of Reach supplies - NOTE: Reach Studio does not have oil painting supplies on hand) Some easels are available for use at the studio. Anthony will provide guidance to participants and may occasionally demonstrate/teach particular techniques. Please pre-register for each session at least 24 hours in advance by calling 517-999-3643 or e-mail us. Sessions may be cancelled due to insufficient registrants.
